Writers write

One book is less likely to find an audience than two books, a comic, a blog or/and a short story collection. The best audience isn’t just an audience that exists around a single work, but rather, an ecosystem that connects to the creator. The audience that hangs with a creator will follow said creator from work to work. Writing for me has been an act of creating, not an act of memory alone, but an act of inventing the present through the prism of concentrated memory but also the created expansion of opportunities to think and reflect in a way to open up more possibilities.

If you’re anything like me, part of your New Year’s Resolution was to write more.

It might have been to hit a certain word or page count in a day, write for a certain time length, develop a number of ideas in a day, write more books etc.

Whatever it was, you told yourself you would write more. You had writing goals and resolutions.

“Writers see the world differently. Every voice we hear, every face we see, every hand we touch could become story fabric “Buffy Andrews

As a writer the way you perceive the world should be very different from non-writers.

Writing is a lot like exercising. Sometimes you can’t get over the mental hurdle of actually exercising when you haven’t exercised in awhile.
Writing is the same way, acts right in same vein.
You’re the hub of your creative life, with spokes leading to many creative expressions rather than just one.

Understand the basics

Knowledge at its best is transmitted through writing and writing at its best is a gift of ignorance to be learned so you can relearn the lessons you should have learned to transmit the information you discovered.

You may have heard the old writer’s dictum, “Write what you know.” This is a good advice for every writer to adhere to; however, it does not simply mean you should only write about, literally, the people and places with which you have direct contact and intimate familiarity.

Before you can start writing incredible content, you’ll need at least an intermediate understanding of the basic principles of writing.

This doesn’t mean you need to enroll in a prestigious creative writing program at an Ivy league university, but you will need to know the basics of grammar and spelling.

Now, I recommend “The Elements of Style” by Strunk and White on their bookshelf, as this small but invaluable book is one of the most comprehensive resources on the correct use of grammar and other helpful topics.
This awesome book will allow you engage more with your writing skills, create compelling and catchy contents with real value.

Put yourself out there

Writing has grown over being a hidden act you may never like your friends and family members to know about.
Be the real you. Be authentic. Don’t just be a “content creator.”
Don’t forget you’re a human. Authenticity helps you up your game anytime, anywhere.
So, you want writing to be a part of your daily life, something you do without even thinking about it?
Sit down to write, every day, at the same time. It won’t take long to become a habit.

Don’t allow this thought run through your mind: “I’m tired, I think I’ll skip writing today and pick it up tomorrow”

This is one of the many writers block you need to break if you must become a successful writer. No apologies, this is most of the battle in forming a writing habit.

There is no hidden secret behind the truth that writing can be hard if you don’t have someone to read your work, and encourage or critique you.

What should you do if you are experiencing such in your writing lifestyle?

The only reason why you have been having such problem may be your inability to add a sharing button to your website or blog or sharing your latest work with our community.

Make your work easy to share. This is triply true for newer writers: Don’t hide your work behind a wall.

Make sure your work is widely available for easy accessibility, reaching wider audience.

Expose your writing talent

A lot of writers don’t like other people to read anything they’ve written until it’s complete.

But having a couple of people comment and critique your work isn’t a bad idea. You can get different opinions instead of being pulled and influenced in one direction.

Sometimes I don’t know what I’m thinking until I start writing. My greatest writing has come in rewriting, revision is critical.

It’s where sentences become a train in search of the caboose. Don’t make your writing too difficult to pass around. Feel free to expose it to many others.

I’ve found that thinking about a certain story I’m working on can be exhausting, especially when my mind is running through ideas all day.

While exposing your writing talent, observe your thoughts. Different voices and perspectives can be both eyeopening and encouraging as a writer.

I know it’s scary to let someone else read your writing, so pick someone you trust and make your writing open.

Writing is a risk, the risk of exposure of ignorance on the page, but also the joy of self-discovery of knowledge when writing is taking place.

Experience is awesome

As a writer, you must not fail to make your advice more practical by demonstrating your tips with lively examples. How can you achieve this?

Apply the principles of persuasion, so you can inspire your reader to implement your tips and nudge him to buy from you.

Writing brings about new experiences, wisdom, self-discovery, discovery of the other, the vast university of possibility to be conquered much as possible.

Meditating on your earliest childhood memories might trigger some noteworthy visual pictures and actions.

When we explore our memories, we are not simply transporting ourselves back to the past, but we’re using our memories and imaginations to embellish what we once thought we knew.

For quick and easy online resources, bookmark Grammar Girl and, of course, Merriam Webster. They’d help you handle your write life like a job.

Don’t be lazy to share

You may have been in a place where many people died and a little child survived.

It may not be an accident you experienced, it could be a delicious meal which you probably prepared and enjoyed while eating.

Don’t fail to share with your community the late happenings going on in your life.

Stories help us chart through the emotions of our readers allowing them capture and retain what they read.

As you learn things about the process, share them with others. Free exchange of information is awesome. Be open and honest. Be useful.

I  have, you may not have recognized that being a single-minded creator requires some ego.

Further, the reality is that once something is “out there”, it is what it is and there ain’t anything you can do about it.

Even as you share, mind what you share. Your readers are hungry for ideas, advice, comfort, and inspiration. Serve them the right mix of nourishing content, and make them crave more.

No writer is born with a unique voice, just like a chef isn’t born with a signature dish in her mind.

Instead, we learn how to write and cook by studying the masters and ‘stealing’ proven recipes involved.
