The Best Writing Advice For Entrepreneurs You’re Not Taking

Every problem in life requires certain strategies to be applied to get it solved.

Developing the habit of thinking big on a daily basis requires a little work and effort to up-level your writing skills.

It’s not something that will happen overnight, but it is something that will happen over-time as you apply the strategies I’ll share today consistently and meticulously.

The truth is, most of us start out thinking big as writers.

We imagine our titles on the bestseller’s lists, our interviews with the media and our well-attended book signings where all readers have nothing but gushing compliments to give.

In the moment of awesomeness―the so-called “reality” sets in. We spend day after day in the chair.

We submit. We get stacks upon stacks of rejections.

Maybe we keep at it, or we turn to self-publishing.

Then we get bogged down with the editing and the book cover and the formatting and then all the many, many tasks involved with marketing.

It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the world.” ― Ben Carson, Think Big: Unleashing Your Potential for Excellence

If you’re falling into the trap of thinking small, it’s time to make some changes and think BIG!

Thinking small is disastrous because it keeps us exactly where we are.

We may even go backward, because the more negative feelings we have in the moment, the more likely we are to fail to apply ourselves, which means things could get even worse.

Small thinking also affects the future—do you really want to be exactly where you are now in 5, 10, or 20 years from today?

Still frustrated that your writing is going nowhere, or that you’re not making any money, or that you haven’t been published, or that you’re just not doing what you want to do?

There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.― Ernest Hemingway

Who is the supreme being of your universe?

You are, of course, but the brain machinery has overthrown you.

You haven’t separated the emotional energy from your thoughts.

And now they hop around like a handful of Mexican jumping beans.

Sit still for a minute and try not to think at all.

Just decide to sit there for a minute and not think.

Entrepreneurs Everyday Guide To Think Big As Writers

Follow the advice below and win the challenge.

1. Thinking is the Key

Thinking big consistently and effortlessly will come over time.

Like any habit, it requires us to develop a plethora of supporting habits that will help us to think big for more effectively.

Broaden your thinking about your writing career.

Being a bestselling author isn’t the only option. Maybe you can put some different skills together—sell a novel and also sell some short stories or children’s stories or poems.

Do some freelancing, teach, or offer your expertise in speaking engagements

Don’t stop yourself with limiting thoughts. Just let yourself think about the future you’d really like to have as a writer.

Give yourself an hour to daydream, or set daily goals for breaking some writing nuts.

Allow those dreams to bubble up to the surface of your mind.

In the process of doing ideas could come up while you write

2. Use empowering language

The language you use on a daily basis is simply a reflection of your thoughts.

If your words are riddled with complaining, worrying and criticizing your life circumstances, then you can expect that your life as a writer will undoubtedly be a direct reflection of these words.

If on the other hand, you begin using empowering words and phrases that are focused on solutions, ideas and on expanding possibilities, then your life will also be a reflection of this type of language.

3. Consider big Ideas, plans, and goals

When I talk about setting your writing goals, I’m not addressing your brain, which is a great storage device but not much of a thinker.

No, I don’t want to talk to the answering machine or even a secretary; I want the boss.

That’s you.

It’s your ability to set goals; you own it. Maybe it’s time you take control of it.

A goal is an effective tool that boosts vehemently the life of anyone that does it right and don’t follow it wrongly.

When setting goals and lay down plans of action don’t settle for safety.

Think instead of goals that will help expand your comfort zone, push your limits and stretch your imagination — freeing your mind to think big. Life is after all too short for anything else.

4. Endeavor to think straight

In order to create something (other than a random effect) in the physical universe, you must first create an idea of the thing in your own mind.

That is why the first step in achieving any kind of success is getting your thinking straight.

You know, there are an awful lot of people who are collapsed on that couch because they didn’t get their thinking straight first. We’re talking about making decisions, and everyone knows that’s risky.

Wrong decisions lead to failure.

Thinking big requires forward thinking Click To Tweet

Big thinkers think several steps ahead, several moves in advance and several years into the future.

They understand that life is simply like a game of chess.

If you do not have the ability to think several moves ahead, then you haven’t as yet successfully cultivated the habit of thinking big.

5. Practice ‘solution oriented thinking’

Thinking big is about finding solutions, answers, and ideas that will break down the problematic walls that are standing in your way and needfully for your readers (audience).

Solution oriented thinking involves asking effective questions that will expand possibilities and open you to alternative perspectives that you never considered before.

To sit and think is the big challenge—no one else is going to do the work.

If you don’t love challenging yourself through story, character, and continuity, perhaps another creative outlet would be a more suitable choice.

Do you have stories only you can tell?

Writers are alone most of the time unless they have the ability to write surrounded by chaos.

6. Exhibit indispensable qualities

Thinking big requires us to cultivate several key qualities and traits that will enable us to think bigger and better than ever before about our life and circumstances. These qualities include passion, courage, optimism, persistence,

Having a good writing quality as a writer (and blogger) is the key to being able to succeed in sitting for long periods of time. This is me—I have had bad writing posture since long before computers. As a young

7. Firm Belief

Thinking big requires a set of unshakable beliefs that magically convince you that whatever you can conceptualize in your mind, you can realize in the physical world.

Until you trick yourself into becoming who you are, you’re a sham.Click To Tweet

Just another poseur or pretentious sucker deluding himself. And I don’t want to live like that. I’m pretty sure you don’t, either.

And I don’t want to live like that. I’m pretty sure you don’t, either.

Hence you must believe that:

When I envision it, I believe it…
When I believe it, I do it…
When I do it, everything becomes possible…

You are a life jacket to someone drowning. Find them!

So what do we do to build our confidence writing? We believe. We choose to see the invisible inside ourselves and bring it to light. We speak things that are not as though they were. Because we know deep in our hearts that we are, in fact, writers. Yes, we question ourselves and wonder if we’ll ever measure up. But deep in our souls, we know we were made to do this.

Wait!

It’s time to stop doubting and believe it. Don’t do this lightly. Do it courageously. There’s more riding on this than you realize. This is the bubble to double the responsibility to write. Just do it as you read it and

8. Map out time to think

In order to think big, you must first find the time to think proactively about your circumstances and the right ways to get problems solved. Most

Most people, unfortunately, don’t have this privilege.

They simply don’t have the time and tend to constantly react to the events and circumstances in their lives.

They never actually take the time to STOP and THINK proactively about solutions and ideas that could make their life easier and solve the problems confronting their reality.

My advice to young upcoming writers is to learn ways to quiet the mind to enable them to practice proper thinking. To balance your mental status you need physical exercise, work with play, discipline with spontaneity,

9. Create opportunities to solve BIG problems

Cultivate a well-rounded life. Read—read the best writing you can find both online and offline. Look at nature. Listen to music. Listen to people. Be in

Look at nature. Listen to music. Listen to people.

Be in the community. Rub minds with others in your writing niche and more. Go to the fair. Spend time alone. Daydream and come back to the world. Whatever you notice, write it down. Keep a journal, even if it’s only a box. Write anytime, anywhere, about anything, on anything.

Remember, great thinkers, are problem solvers.

For this reason: BIG thinkers love BIG problems (and you owe you this!).

Problems are nothing more than puzzles that need to be pieced together with the right resources and ideas.

Those who cultivate the habit of thinking big understand that the more often they piece these puzzles together the more proficient they will become at solving future unexpected problems that may rudely show up at the worst possible time.

10. Challenge your weaknesses

I know you are human, challenge your weakness.

Weaknesses are simply things that we have failed to address and consistently focus on over a lifetime.

In other words, they are things that we have neglected — and what you don’t use, you will lose.

Therefore weaknesses should not be seen as limitations, but rather as opportunities for change.

Writers often take pride in the fact that they can do their work pretty much anywhere, but having a place where you can go on a daily basis that feels comfortable, inviting, and inspiring can help you get a lot more done.

Whatever works best for you, ask yourself if you’ve got it.

Conclusion

Writers who cultivate the habit of thinking big understand that by challenging their weaknesses they naturally strengthen their ability to deal with the unexpected events and circumstances that life throws their way.

Likewise they understand that challenging weaknesses add to their arsenal of skills and resources that they have on hand to help them attain their BIG goals and objectives. As long as you can endure a problem, you will not reach for a remedy. But then, the proof of desire is pursuit!
