What Is the Last Uncomfortable Blogging Decision You Made?

I spent the past few days walking goats through the forest in the backyard.

The temperature here in the USA has been about 25 F to 30 F, or about -4 C to -1 C. Pretty cold. But I walked for 20 to 40 minutes in the snow wearing:

  • shorts
  • sneakers
  • no socks
  • a light sweatshirt
  • a ski cap

Most folks deem me a bit nuts. I know many folks reading this post from Africa, whether in Nigeria or surrounding countries around there, may deem me mad, LOL! -4 C is likely pretty cold for you guys. I am used to living in warm, tropical environments for many years. Even though I grew up by NYC – with its cold winters and snow – I had to re-train myself to become comfortable with cold temperatures every time I returned home.

But I simply made a series of uncomfortable decisions over the past few years on waking. I spend 30-60 seconds in any icy sold shower on waking daily. Why? Doing so forces me to face my:

  • fears
  • attachment to comfort
  • aversion to discomfort

Taking an icy cold shower for years has helped me health immensely. Icons like Tim Ferriss and Tony Robins preach cryotherapy, or, the science of using cold temperatures to rejuvenate your body and mind. Minus obvious health benefits, becoming comfortable with cold temperatures allowed me to renew my mind, too. I developed a solid relationship with being uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable routinely – and being comfortable with being uncomfortable – allowed me to increase my blog traffic and profits because traffic and profit growth occurs outside of your comfort zone.

Pro blogging careers await you well outside of your comfort zone. But moving well outside of your comfort zone demands you step outside of your comfort zone routinely, many times, over the course of many years.

Unfortunately, most bloggers struggle because most bloggers refuse to walk outside of their comfort zone. Or bloggers may make one genuinely uncomfortable decision and move into uncomfortable action every few weeks or every few months. Pro bloggers move into uncomfortable action on a daily basis, sometimes, well before becoming pro bloggers. Eventually, these actions become easier and quite comfortable to take but only because you faced your fears habitually, over years of your blogging career.

What is the last uncomfortable blogging decision you made? Did you make this choice weeks or months ago? Or do you move into uncomfortable blogging action on a daily basis? Blogging growth in terms of traffic and profits seems to be an accurate indicator whether or not you face fears routinely through your blogging campaign.

Write and self-publish your first eBook. Even if it feels scary to do so just do it. Greater blogging profits await you.

Broadcast live for the first time. Even if you fear going live just do it. Greater traffic, profits and credibility await you.

Write the guest post. Publish the blog comment. Promote other bloggers. Do things well outside of your comfort zone to position yourself to experience greater blogging success. I feel uncomfortable writing this post at 9:30 PM on a Saturday night. I do enjoy writing but observe my mind racing ahead to the 90 minutes of yoga awaiting me before I go to bed. One part of me wishes to sit by the fire in the wood-burning stove to watch Hulu. But leaving my comfort zone routinely has helped me live a neat life of circling the globe while empowering my fellow bloggers.

Make freeing and uncomfortable decisions frequently.

Move outside of your comfort zone routinely to lay the foundation for a thriving blogging career.
