Becoming a guest blogger is no bad idea. You can be a guest blogger even without owning a blog of your own which your identity as a blogger will develop after you become a blog owner.

A blogger should have;

A niche blog helps you direct your message to your target audience (TA) and also allows them to come back for more.

When you blog about what you’re passionate about, several things happen. You may not notice it at the start-up stage, but, it matters a lot just like you can never succeed without drinking water.

The passion you have for what you write on your blog has a huge part to play in your success as a blogger and will help boost your energy to stay persistent as you write even with little or no traffic.

Look around you and ask yourself what your interests and strengths are? What is it you are so good at that you think worth sharing with others?

Do you think your ideas can add values to the lives of others?

Allow you inside you assist you to answer the questions accordingly. Did you study Food Science while in college?

You may decide to run a food blog to share the knowledge you have acquired over time with others. It is allowed so far as you are ready to take the first step forward. Are you good at resolving relationship mattes?

You may choose to run a relationship blog, too. All these lie in what you can do and be the best at doing it as an individual.

2. Go for a Good Domain Name

A domain name is the part of a network address that identifies it as belonging to a particular domain. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS).

Any name registered in the DNS is a domain name. Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes.

The name represents identity and ownership. The way every human needs a name, in the same way, every newly created blog need a domain name.

You may want to use Whogohost, Godaddy or Namecheap to purchase the domain name of your blog. Whichever you choose, they are all good.

Before getting up to this point you should have decided on the niche you will run on your blog. This you will know how to the next point. Follow through as I lead you by the hand. Pause, don’t rush, take a deep breath and read on.

Before we go over to the next point, I’d like to let you know that you choose a domain name that is short, meaningful and easy to remember and also relevant to your niche and in accordance to Google’s Terms.

3. Don’t Choose the Wrong Platform to Blog

As your blog grows, you may want to change the look of your site and add more features for your growing audience. That means it’s important to choose a blogging platform that’s flexible, with room to grow.

Starting off with the wrong platform can make it very difficult to switch later on. The platform your blog emanated from is very vital.

There are the different platforms to start out your blog from.

We have:

  • Blogger
  • Tumblr
  • Medium
  • Squarespace
  • Wix
  • Joomla
  • GhostWeebly and many others.

The platform to choose all depends on you and your readers/clients. You know the best thing for them, go for it.

4. Purchase a Premium Theme

Many talks have been directed to the kind of theme you choose for your blog. A theme gives your blog either a good face or bad one.

Before you choose a theme for your blog endeavor to make enough research to see the time is good and will serve better your readers for future purposes. Blogger and WordPress are the most popular platforms that are designed for bloggers to start their blogs.

If you want your blog to look good, you need to garnish it with some ingredients to let it be a standard through which other bloggers measures their blog.

If you have chosen Blogger there are various stores to purchase themes online and also many free blogger blog templates which are ever ready for download online.

WordPress is good. If you are on WordPress then you will need to install a premium theme on your WordPress blog. Adding a premium theme will provide additional features and functions to allow your blog look great on other blogs.

The premium versions may cost you money, but, it worth it. Why not go for the best?

You know what to do, do it.

5. Purchase a Reliable Web Space

The maths here is simple – if you create your blog on blogger platform, then you can have it for free.

But if you are yet or have opted for the WordPress platform, then it is left for you to choose the free WordPress blog and a self-hosted.

The choice of what to choose is yours!

You need to purchase a web space from a web hosting company if you choose the self-hosted WordPress to create your own blog.

We have HostGator you may decide to go with it. I’d like to advise you not to go for a very cheap hosting service because it might not be safe and reliable.

Do not forget that the speed of your blog in most cases depends on your web hosting, and this is a critical factor in the success of your blog.

Having a blog does not mean you have a business. Instead, a blog is a platform where you can grow your business, gain more sales and improve your brand visibility.
