Do You Fear Publishing Blog Posts?

The only way through this fear is by writing and publishing blog posts.

I know publishing feels scary at first. Everything needs to be perfect, right? Edit. Re-edit. Re-edit one more time. Allow the post to sit for a bit. Let it simmer. Yeah; that’s about right. Simply be patient, right? Relax. Cool your jets. Let the post sit there for a few weeks. Weeks pass. Guess what? You still have not published the blog post.

Eventually, you need to hit the publish button if you plan to be a blogger. I know how scary it feels to publish content. Especially as a newbie, publishing content puts you out there in a public setting. Being open to criticism makes things real. Being seen in the public makes you a potential target. Most new bloggers fear criticism so deeply that they will do anything to avoid going public with their first few blog posts. Take your time. Be with the fear. Sit with the energies. Allow the fear to dissolve a little bit but be at peace with feeling highly uncomfortable the first few times you write and publish blog posts.

Publish the post. Believe a little more in yourself. Every new blogger has doubts. But all new bloggers who eventually succeed need to publish their first few blog posts, no matter how rough the experience feels.

I recall writing my first few blog posts in 2008. Goodness I felt scared. I doubted myself. I worried about blogging the wrong way. I simply did not want to go live because I feared looking stupid. Who the heck would read my blog anyway? Why did I begin blogging in the first place? Everything seemed to flood in, fear-wise. I felt scared. But I had to publish the blog post to go live, eventually. No one succeeds sitting on the sidelines. Every blogger needs to go public eventually to become clear, confident and focused enough to go pro down the road. I published my first post in 2008. I published my 2nd, 3rd and 4th posts to get my creative momentum going.

How did I do it? By doing it! Publish the post already. Sit with your fears. I watch my fears, feel the fears and let go the fears to do the thing I feared doing. Get used to this process. I do not care how long you blog; fears rear their ugly heads all along the blogging journey, arising in your being as you leave your comfort zone on the regular. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Get used to it.

Adopt a “take it or leave it” mindset regarding your content. Some readers will not like your blog, no matter what. This is part of life. Some enjoy your delivery. Some do not. Be at peace with this simple fact. Overcoming the fear of criticism begins with knowing you can and will be criticized as a blogger. But knowing how all criticism is a simple projection saying everything about the critic and nothing about you makes publishing posts easier. Why fear someone offering feedback about themselves, anyway? Again; all criticism is a projection, because we see the world as we see ourselves.

Publish the post!

Something neat happens; more fans flock to you than critics, based on your confidence, clarity and trust in self and in the blogging process. Most blogging communities grow into large, loving, supportive groups of human beings who uplift one another. My blogging tribe is all love. I give no attention to critics, anyway, because where your attention and energy goes, grows.

Your audience awaits you.

Write and publish blog posts even if you feel scared to do so. Let your acts of faith form the foundation for your blogging campaign.
